CARIBOU, Maine — The Caribou Police Department arrested Justin Adams of Caribou on Thursday morning in connection with theft and vandalism at Custom Car Wash.

Police issued a search warrant for Adams’ home on Thursday and allegedly recovered evidence from the burglary at his residence.

Custom Car Wash owner John Morrill released a screenshot of security camera footage depicting the alleged thief shortly after the incident on Feb. 18. Morrill said the thief vandalized all four vaults and timers from the self-serve bays at the car wash and also stole roughly $1,500 worth of quarters.

Footage showed the man wearing heavy camouflage and using crowbars and other tools to rip out the vaults. As a result, Morrill had to close the four self-serve bays for one week while they were repaired.

Police charged Adams with burglary, theft by unauthorized taking and aggravated criminal mischief. His bail has been set at $1,000 cash or $10,000 surety. Adams will be arraigned on April 9 at the Caribou District Court.
