Credit union calls for scholarship applications

MADAWASKA and PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — NorState Federal Credit Union is now accepting applications for six $1,000 scholarships to be awarded to graduating high school seniors throughout Aroostook and Northern Penobscot counties.

Applicants can find a NorState Scholarship Application either online at norstatefcu.org or through their high school’s guidance department.

The NorState Federal Credit Union college scholarship is available to high school seniors who meet all criteria: (1) Must be a member of NorState Federal Credit Union and have their own account (family membership time minimum of 1 year); (2) Applicant mush have been accepted to an accredited college, vocational school or university; (3) Submit a written summary to why the applicant should be the successful recipient of the scholarship, a copy of the applicant’s high school transcripts showing GPA, academic status, volunteerism of club/community activities.

Amy Michaud, vice president of support services at NorState FCU, stated, “We are vested in our communities and believe in the future of our youth. By investing in their future, we believe that investment will benefit our local economy with skilled, employable people.”

Mail completed application and letters to NorState FCU, c/o Scholarship Department, 78 Fox St., Madawaska, ME 04756, or drop them off at a local NorState office before May 18. To submit via email, send the PDF files to klavoie@norstatefcu.org.
