Easton Kiwanis president received an award — Easton Kiwanis president Barbara Blackstone was presented an award at the club’s April 15 meeting by member, Mary (Mike) Carter. The award was for being an Outstanding Citizen and chosen as the Aroostook County All-Star of the Year by WAGM-TV.

Plan outdoor theater to open this summer on the Presque Isle road — Eight acres of land on the Ralph Hitchings farm, Presque Isle road, Caribou have been purchased by Gordon Wilcox, Washburn, and Lewis Christie, Presque Isle, who plan to set up an outdoor movie theater, to be ready for use the early part of this summer.

  Morneault house dates from 1857 – The Morneault house in Grand Isle has been given to the Living Heritage Vivant Historical Society. There is a very special reason that every effort should be made to preserve this house. It is one of the oldest houses still in existence along the valley.

Beard be gone – Before the entire Fort Kent Elementary School population, Principal Gary Stevens had to come clean on his challenge. Stevens challenged the students to collect double the amount of General Mills box tops this year over last, as part of a PTA fundraiser. If the students met their goal, Stevens promised to shave his beard before the entire student body.
