To the editor:
Midmorning on Sunday, Jan. 7, a 100-year-old woman lost a small beige purse on Carmichael Street in Presque Isle.      The purse fell from her walker as she made her way to a car transporting her to church. Her family notified authorities immediately. It is known that a call was made Sunday afternoon to an 800-number inquiring about the remaining value on her food stamp card, which verifies that an individual(s) picked up her purse.
The purse contained valuables, including keys as well as money gifts from her 100th birthday celebration and Christmas, with which she intended to purchase a recliner to meet her needs. Police have received some leads and are investigating. Her family is hopeful that whoever found the purse will act with compassion and honesty and return the contents.
Anyone having information, please call the police, or her family at 768-6941 or 762-3127.
