PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Drenn Belmain scored his first goal of the year in front of the home crowd Jan. 21. Reece McDougall and Cooper Madore also added tallies for the Cary Medical Center/MFX Novice team as they hosted Carleton 2.
The team took some inspiration from their counterparts on the varsity hockey team, which they were lucky enough to meet in person before a 3-2 overtime win for the Wildcats the night before. The Novice team showed strong skill on both sides of the ice but suffered a 22-3 loss.
Assists for Presque Isle came from Sarah Beaulieu, Gregory Jellison, Devin Ireland and Denny Young and strong offensive plays also came from Thomas Patenaude and Isaac Madore.
The Wildcats got tough defense from Eric Benson and Tyler Levesque. Goalie Heinz Schumacher stood strong in goal, facing 61 shots. Presque Isle took 18 looks at the net.
