The Nordic Heritage Sport Club in conjunction with Cary Medical Center is sponsoring the Himie Towle Memorial Cross Country Ski Frolic Sunday, March 11 at the Nordic Heritage Center in Presque Isle. Registration is $20 for a family or $10 for adults and $5 for youths. Costs include a homemade soup lunch.
Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. at the ski lodge. The first 100 to register receive a free long-sleeve T-shirt.
Competition includes a 200-meter race for kids ages 7 and under beginning at 1 p.m., a 400-meter race for kids ages 8 and 9 beginning at 1:05 p.m., an 800-meter race for kids ages 10 and 11 beginning at 1:10 p.m., a 2-kilometer race for kids ages 12 and 13 and a 7.5 kilometer race for anyone ages 14 and older.
Awards include lollipops, ribbons and first- and second-place medals in 24 categories. The race is good for Aroostook Cup points as well.
