Grades 5 and 6 girls’
basketball championships
Hannah Guerrette scored eight of her game high 19 points in the third quarter to help propel the Liberty to the victory over the Mercury. Kaleigh Kinney also ended up in double digits for the Liberty, finishing with 10 points. Kelsey Burlock added four points and Courtney Carney contributed two points.
The Mercury were led by four points from Dannica Ladd. Carly Bell chipped in with three points, and Lora Ireland rounded out the Mercury attack with two points.

basketball championships
Josh Gordon’s basket with 15 seconds left lifted the Celtics to the 32-31 win over the Pistons. Gordon scored 12 of his game high 14 points to help the Celtics erase an early 10-2 deficit. Drew Bates chipped in with eight points and Drew Barrett added six points. Khyver Lowe finished with four points to round out the Celtics’ attack.
Karson Eaton scored 13 points before fouling out for the Pistons. Brandon LeBlanc scored eight points, including four clutch free throws late in the game. Dakota Dinatale and Hale Cushman each added four, and Garret Kidney finished with two points.
High School Indoor Soccer Tournament
The Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department will host its annual indoor soccer tournament for high school students Saturday, March 17 at the Northern Maine Community College.
The tournament has a 5-on-5 format and teams are limited to 10 players. Deadline for registration is Friday, March 9 at noon. Entry fee is $65 per team.

Youth indoor soccer
The Presque Isle Recreation and Parks will offer a youth co-ed indoor soccer program beginning March 8. This is an informal drop-in program with no registration required.
The schedule will be as follows: Thursdays 3:15-4:15 p.m. for grades 3 and 4 and 4:15-5:15 p.m. for grades 5 and 6
All youth must have shin-guards and sneakers to participate.
Big Rock ski passes
The Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department has discounted lift tickets for Big Rock Ski Area in Mars Hill. Junior (ages 6 to 17) lift tickets will be sold for $14, or 22-percent off the regular price, while adult lift tickets will be sold for $19, or 24-percent off the regular price. Youth open gym
The Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department has started its open gym hours on Sundays and Saturdays throughout the winter from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Grades 1-5 are welcome from 1 to 3, and junior high and high school students are welcome from 3 to 5. Available activities include gym games, board games, ping pong, foosball, and pool. There is no cost.
Middle school only

The Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department will offer a middle school only open gym time on Friday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Students in grades 6-8 are invited to come and participate in open gym and other activities. Possible group activities, such as tubing and bowling, may be scheduled for future dates. This is open to SAD 1 students only.
Presque Isle Indoor Pool
The Presque Isle Indoor Pool will begin pre-paid registration on March 12 for the March 26 to June 3 session.
Parent-Toddler and Infant Classes: Tuesday at 9-9:25 a.m. or 6:30-6:55 p.m. and Saturday at 9-9:25 a.m.
3-year-old classes run Monday from 6-6:25 p.m., Thursday from 9-9:25 a.m. and Friday or Saturday from 10:30-10:55 a.m.

Learn to Swim I classes for non-swimming children ages 6 and older are Monday from 6-6:50 p.m., Tuesday from 4-4:50 p.m., Wednesday from 2-2:50 p.m. or 6-6:50 p.m. and Saturday from 11-11:50 a.m.
Learn to Swim II and III classes are Monday at 2-2:50 p.m., Tuesday from 3-3:50 p.m. or 4-4:50 p.m., Wednesday from 1-1:50 p.m. or 6-6:50 p.m., Thursday from 3-3:50 p.m. or 4-4:50 p.m. and Saturday from 10-10:50 a.m. or 11-11;50 a.m.

A diving clinic will be held Thursday from 7-7:50 p.m.
A guard start class for children ages 11-14 is offered Wednesdays from 3:30-4:20 p.m. Participants will learn lifeguard skills, CPR and first aid skills.
An adult beginner class is offered Monday from 1-1:50 p.m. and Thursday from 7-7:50 p.m.
An adult stroke improvement class is offered Thursday from 7-7:50 p.m.
Water exercise classes are offered Monday, Wednesday or Friday from 10-10:50 a.m. or Monday and Wednesday from 6-6:50 p.m.
Water walking classes are scheduled for Tuesday or Thursday from 9:30-10:20 a.m.
Water jogging classes are scheduled for Tuesday or Thursday from 6-6:50 p.m.
Kayaking roll sessions are offered Wednesday from 7-7:50 p.m.

Fort Fairfield
Grades 1-8 indoor soccer
The Fort Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department is offering an indoor soccer program at the community center for boys and girls in grades 1-8. Interested students and parents can stop into the community center to fill out the proper paperwork.
The program will be divided into three age groups with each group playing separately from the others. The program begins on Thursday, March 1 and will be held every Monday and Thursday until April 12. Outdoor shoes are not allowed on the gym floor. Please carry in sneakers to be worn for the program.
Grades 1 and 2 begin Thursday, March 1 and meet every Monday and Thursday from 3-4 p.m.
Grades 3-5 begin March 1 and meet every Monday and Thursday from 4-5 p.m.
Grades 6-8 begin March 1 and meet every Monday and Thursday from 5-6 p.m.
