Fort girls third; PI teams take fifth and sixth

    FORT KENT, Maine – The Caribou Middle School Girls dominated the Aroostook Middle School League County Championship meet for classic-style skiing on March 9 in Fort Kent.
   In the overall competition for the girls, Caribou came in first place with a score of 13, Union 122 was second with a score of 46, and Fort Fairfield was third at 51. Fort Kent scored 85, Presque Isle Blue team, 86, Presque Isle White team, 88, Madawaska 142, and Ashland scored 146.
Individually, Caribou girls swept over the competition by securing the top three placements. Laura Collins came in first in the 2.5 kilometer race, with a time of 9 minutes and 27 seconds, followed by Katie Plourde passing the line 38 seconds behind her at 9:03, and Madison Outing in third at 10:07.
Cassidy Spencer, Fort Kent, placed forth with a time of 10:27 and Vicky Bernard rounded off fifth place with a time of 10:57.
Other racers from Caribou were Lydia Kieffer, in seventh place. Breanna Randolph, Nicole Cyr, Carly Pinette, Samantha Murchison, Ginger Kieffer and Meredith Sleeper secured places 12-17, respectively. Ashley Richards, 20th, and Elizabeth Keaton, Alissa Randolph and Ashley Clark placed 22-24th, respectively. Elisha Willey, Olivia Sleeper and McKenzie Belyea each placed 26-28, respectively.
Also from Caribou, Kelley Kashian, Serena Cyr, Emma Duplissee-Cyr, Michelle Tardiff and Regan Buck in 31-35th. Emily Soderberg, 38th, Clara Collins and Reanna Plourde came in 40th and 41st. Sabrina Doustou placed 44th and Paige Nadeau, Tia McHatten and Dominique Hessert placed 48-50th, respectively.
Also, Alana Sirois and Mallorie Cyr came in 55th and 56th, respectively. Abby Holocombe, 60th, and Bekah Walker and Victoria Keaton placed 71st and 72nd.
Union #122 had two top-ten finishers, with Dayna Michaud coming in sixth place, and Kendra Stevens in at number ten. Also for Union #122, Kristen Plante came in 18th, Chelsea Bard, 21st, Kelsie Espling, 25th and Mary Jo Sheehan at 46th.
Fort Fairfield also had two top-ten placers, with Kaitlyn Kinsey and Melissa McKenney, taking home places 8 and 9, respectively. Other finishing skiers include: Veronica Plourde, 19th, Camille Huffman, 30th, Victoria Plourde, 36th, Kylie Plourde, 54th, Linsey Graves placing 62nd, and Aleesha Campbell finished in 70th place.
Presque Isle Middle School had two teams competing in the event, a Blue Team and a White Team. Finishing for the white team were skiers Danni Anderson-Packard in 11th, Emma Barlett, 39th and Karlee Bernier, 47th.
Grace Short, Jolonna Gough and Liza Buck locked in the spots for 51-53. Also for the White Team, Alex Lambert finished in 58th, Bethany Beckwith, 61st and Erica Hemphill and Bonnie Zeng finished 67-68th, respectively.
PIMS Blue Team finishers included Lindsay Michaud in 29th, Leslie Campbell, 37th, Meredith Stewart and Megan Ireland in places 42 and 43, respectively, Chandler Guerrette, 45th, Jenice Jarvis, 57th. Also for the Blue Team, Courtney Colligan and Katie McKenna, taking spots 63 and 64, respectively, along with Christina Hallowell in 69th.
Ashland finishers included Whitney Donovan in 65th and Kylee Rubin in 73rd.
