Atoms pile up wins

  The Atoms hockey team traveled to Auburn for the state tournament March 9-11 and brought home the runner-up trophy, but it was all gold at their March 16 matchup against Carlton.

    On March 9, the Atoms played their first game against Lewiston, and it ended with a 5-0 win for Presque Isle. Goals were scored by Alex Michaud and Mikey Michaud, with one each, and Tyler Seeley with three.
Assists were made by Alex Michaud with three, Tyler Seeley and Austin Albert with two each, and Ryder Soucy and Trevor Levesque with one a piece.
Aaron Kofstad was in the net with 10 shots on.
March 10, the Atoms were matched up against the Gorham Huskies, and came out of it with an 8-1 win. Goals were scored by Colin McKay, Austin Albert and Mikey Michaud, each with one, Ryder Soucy put in two, and Tyler Seeley scored three.
Assists were made by Trevor Levesque, with three, Joseph Patenaude, Colin McKay, Alex Michaud and Mikey Michaud, each with one.
Jillian Flynn was in the net, with 20 shots on.
Also on March 10, the Atoms met a tough match against Casco Bay, but walked away wit a 3-1 win. Goals were made by Alex Michaud, Ryder Soucy and Tyler Seeley.
Mikey Michaud, Joseph Patenaude, Abraham Azab and Austin Albert each chipped in an assist; and Aaron Kofstad was in the goal with 19 shots on.
The semifinal game was held March 11 against Gardiner. The local team really pulled together, and once again found themselves the victors with a 3-2 win.
Goals were made by Colin McKay, Mikey Michaud, and a winning goal by Tyler Seeley, with only 30 seconds left on the clock in the third period.     Assists were made by Mikey Michaud and Aaron Kofstad defended the net with 18 shots on.
The tie-breaking goal took the team into the finals against Winslow. Although the team gave it their all, they fell short of the championship win with a 4-6 loss.
Goals were scored by Ryder Soucy, with one, and Tyler Seeley, with three. Mikey Michaud had two assists and Trevor Levesque had one.
Aaron Kofstad was in the net with 23 shots made on him. In the last minute, he was pulled from the game. With only 10 seconds left, Winslow scored an empty net goal, sealing the win.
Presque Isle finished the weekend with 155 shots on opposing goalies with 23 of them on the score board. There were 80 shots against the PI goalies, and they gave up only 10 goals to their opponents
The last regular season game was held in Hartland, N.B. against Carlton 1 on March 16. The Atoms defeated their opponents with a 7-1 win.
Goals were made by Mikey Michaud, with three, Tyler Seeley, with two, and Ryder Soucy and Colin McKay each scored one.
Mikey Michaud lead the team in assists with two, while Aaron Kofstad, Tyler Seeley, Austin Albert, Trevor Levesque, Ryder Soucy and Colin McKay each chipped in one.
Jillian Flynn protected the goal for the Atoms.
This win has allowed the team to complete their regular season undefeated. Presque Isle will be going into the year-end tournament in first place on March 23-25, in Florenceville, N.B.
