    BANGOR, Maine – The Bangor Daily News has chosen its Eastern Maine All-Tournament girls’ teams, with Dexter’s Mallory Ames being chosen unanimously as the Owen Osborne Most Valuable Player of Class C; along with Lee Academy’s Aarika Ritchie in Class D, Waterville’s Morgan Frame in Class B and Augusta’s Kristi Violette in Class A.
   The MVP and all-tourney picks are selected by the votes of media, tournament officials and representatives of the Maine Principals’ Association.
Joining Ames as Class C All-Tournament players are Calais’ Lindsey Mingo; PVHS’ Kelsy Lavertu and Fort Kent teammates Marissa Albert and Emily Pelletier.
Ames, a 6-6 senior, averaged 25 points per game (ppg), along with 12.3 rebounds per game (rpg) and 3.6 blocked shots, as she led her team to their fifth straight Eastern Maine title. Mingo, a senior forward finished with 12 ppg and 8.6 rpg, while Penobscot Valley senior Lavertu averaged 9.5 ppg and scored 10 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the semifinal game. Fort Kent’s Albert and Pelletier each had outstanding quarterfinal game to defeat Houlton. Junior Albert had 30 points in the first round game and averaged 25.5 ppg, while sophomore Pelletier tossed in 14 points in the quarterfinal.
Picked as Honorable Mention are Calais’ Jessica Brown and Courtney Hill, along with Dexter’s Katie Poirier.
In Class D, Ritchie, a junior guard, shot 60 percent from the field, while averaging 12 ppg and 6.3 rpg, as the Pandas claimed the Eastern Maine crown. Ritchie’s teammate Amanda Gifford, a junior guard, averaged 13.6 ppg, with 24 points on 12-for-18 shooting in the quarterfinal. She also had four rebounds, five assists and three steals. Washburn junior Erica McDougal averaged 11.3 ppg, pouring in 22 points and pulling down eight rebounds in the semis. GHCA senior Megan Korhonen finished her high school career with 16 ppg and 8.5 rpg, as Washburn upended her team in the semifinal. Limestone/MSSM senior guard Lauren Redmond had 15 ppg and 8 rpg.
Honorable Mention for Class D are Lee’s Karin Bird and Brooke Harris, as well as Ashland’s Whitney Flint and Washburn’s Kelsee McLaughlin.
Class B All-Tourney picks were Frame and Waterville teammate Stephanie Whitten; John Bapst’s Hillary Laferriere; MDI’s Amethyst Cousins and Mattanawcook’s Michelle Paul. Honorable Mention went to Susan Falt, MDI; Sarah Given, Waterville; Brianna Hanscom, Mattanawcook and Lauren Nichols, John Bapst.
Class A All-Tourney players along with Violette are Cony teammates Cassie Cooper and Rachael Mack, along with Messalonskee’s Chelsea Barker and Amanda Barker. Honorable Mention are Brogan Liberty, Lawrence; Melissa Oliver, Messalonskee and Kari Pelletier, Oxford Hills.
