RONALD W. COTY – Ashland – Committal services with military honors, for Ronald W. Coty, 66, who died Feb. 2, 2007 will be held at Portage Lake Municipal Cemetery at 3 PM on Friday, May 18. A service of Stimson-Ouellette Funeral Home, Ashland. PORTAGE LAKE – Ronald W. Coty, 66, passed away peacefully Feb. 2, 2007 at a Bangor hospital after a long hard struggle with emphysema. He was born in Ashland, June 12, 1940, the son of William and June (Johnson) Coty.
As a young man, Ronald worked for the A & P Grocery Stores in Ashland and Presque Isle, interrupted when he was drafted into the US Army, serving two years. In 1976 he opened Coty’s Hardware, Inc. in Ashland, a business he owned and operated for more than 20 years until his retirement. Ron was always known as a very stubborn man and his final hurdle was no exception. His strength and determination were exceptional right up until his death. Ron was a “one of a kind” person who will never be forgotten by the many who truly knew him. He touched many lives and made many true and lasting friendships. Ron was a member of the Masonic Pioneer Lodge No. 72, AF & AM of Ashland and a former member of the Ashland Rotary Club. He was a member of the Union Congregational Church of Ashland as well as a past deacon and board member.
In addition to his father of Ashland, he is survived by two daughters, Susie Coty Beaulieu of Presque Isle, who was by his side throughout his illness; Vicki Saucier and her husband Jeff of Simsbury, CT; four grandchildren, Paige Leigha Beaulieu (who was Grampy’s “little Honey”), of Presque Isle; Laura, Chris, and Jon Saucier of Simsbury, CT; one brother, Gordon Coty, Sr. and Ruthene Coty of Ashland; nieces, Glori Coty of Ashland and Holly Coty of Caribou; nephew Gordon Coty, Jr. of Caribou. He was predeceased by his mother, June Coty in Nov., 2003 and by a son-in-law, Mark Beaulieu in Oct., 1996. He will be sadly missed by special friends, George “Chick” Sullivan, Jim and Vicky Kelley, Paul and Robin Wheeler, Harvey, Pat, and Danny Plourde.
Relatives and friends may call at the Union Congregational Church of Ashland from 11 AM until time of service on Wednesday. A funeral service will be held at the church at 1 PM Wednesday. Spring interment will be in the Portage Lake Municipal Cemetery.
