DOROTHY I. ALLEN – Westfield – A committal service will be held, 12:30 p.m. Friday, May 25, at Marshall Cemetery in Westfield. Arrangements in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home.
Westfield – Dorothy I. Allen, 89, wife of the late S. Edwin Allen who predeceased her January 30th, died Friday, March 23, 2007 at a Mars Hill healthcare facility. She was born in Presque Isle October 10, 1917, the daughter of Roy and Isabelle (Cameron) Irving.
Dot was a charter member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Westfield where she taught Sunday school for over 47 years. She had been employed as a teacher and later as a sales clerk at Grew’s Clothing Store in Mars Hill. She served on the Board of Directors of S.A.D. # 1 for several years and had been actively involved with the Child Evangelism Fellowship ministry as an evaluator of their Bible correspondence courses for Northern Maine for many years.
Surviving her are two sons and their wives, Gary E. and Linda Allen of Wilton and Carl H. and Rita Allen of Westfield; a daughter and her husband J. Gail and David Ruttenberg of Auburn; a brother and his wife Ralph and Maddie Irving of Washburn; a sister-in-law Mrs. Dana (Joanne) Irving of Boca Raton, FL; grandchildren Krayton G. Allen and his wife Carol, Kelli Felkel and her husband Daniel, Matthew Ruttenberg, Daniel Ruttenberg and his wife Krissy and Sarah Ruttenberg; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Haley, Sarah, James and Jessica and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted 3:30 Tuesday, March 27th at the Duncan Funeral Home in Mars Hill with Rev. Larry Palmer and Pastor Lawrence Beals officiating.
