Season ends for Cat tennis

Presque Isle hosted the quarterfinal match against Belfast on May 31 at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. The Lady Wildcats were not able to hold off Belfast and lost the match 4-1.

For the singles, Maggie Campbell defeated PI’s Sarah Porter 7-6, 8-6 tiebreak, 7-6, 7-5 tiebreak. Anne Campbell defeated Allison Dean, of PI, 6-3, 6-4; Amy Michaud of PI defeated Kelsi Wry 6-4, 2-6, 6-1.
In doubles, Carrie Hart and Michelle Nealey defeated PI’s Brittany Bearden and Courtney Hoffses 4-6, 6-1, 6-2; Skye Ellis and Gabrielle Scribner defeated the Lady Wildcat team of Jen Steeves and Madelyn Carson 6-4, 6-1.
The PIHS boys’ tennis team traveled to Belfast and took back home the 3-2 win. For singles, Pat LaCicita defeated PI’s Alex Carter 7-6 (7-5), 2-6, 6-0; Josh Nougaret defeated Pi’s Russ Varney 1-6, 6-2, 6-3. In doubles, Faizaan Shamsi and Sam Porter, of Presque Isle, defeated David Delano and Dustin Lindsey 6-4, 6-4; Chris Cawley and Eric Morris, of Presque Isle, defeated Noah Goldstein and Jeff Morgan 6-1 and 6-3.
The PIHS boys’ tennis team then traveled to play in the semifinals against Caribou’s varsity team. Caribou’s team was too strong for the PI boys, and they lost the match 5-0.
For the singles matches, Shane Belanger defeated Alex Carter 7-5, 6-2; Patrick Savage defeated Sam Picard 6-2, 6-2; Casey Lancaster defeated Ben Picard 6-4, 6-2. In doubles, Taylor Jepson and Spencer McElwain defeated Faizaan Shamsi and Sam Porter 6-1, 6-2; Caleb Rosser and Keegan Wakana defeated Erik Morris and Chris Cowley 6-3, 1-6, and 6-4.
