Hershey Track and Field
The Hershey Track and Field Program is for youths ages 9-14. This program meets Tuesday and Thursday from 3-5 p.m. until June 14.
The Caribou Parks and Recreation Department will host the annual Hershey Track and Field District Meet on Wednesday, June 23 at 10 a.m. at the Caribou High School track facility. All area children ages 9-14 are welcome to participate. There are no entry fees, special equipment or clothing required. Pre-registration is required by June 18. Forms are available from local recreation departments.
Events included in the meet will be the 50-, 100-, 200- and 400-meter relays, the 4×100 meter relay, the softball throw and the standing long jump.
Winners in the district meet will travel to Bangor on July 2 to compete in the State Finals of the national event. Winners at the state level will vie for a position on the regional team and will travel to the National Finals in Hershey, Penn. Maine has sent a contingent of finalists annually to the national finals

S.W. Collins Co. Road Race
The S.W. Collins Co. five- and one-kilometer road races will be taking place on June 24. Registration will be from 8-9 a.m. at the S.W. Collins Company Yard in Caribou. The first 75 entrants will get a free T-shirt. The 5K race starts at 9:45 a.m., walkers will start at 9:30 a.m., and the kids’ 1K starts at 8:30 a.m. A $6 donation will be appreciated, with all proceeds to go to the Caribou High School Athletic Department. Sportsmen Inc. Fishing Derby
The Sportsmen Inc. Fishing Derby will be held on June 16 and 17 at the Cross Lake Landing. Breakfast will be offered from 4:30-9 a.m. There will be prizes awarded for the largest salmon, with the first place winner taking home $100 and the second place winner getting $50. The angler with the largest trout will win $100 and the second place winner will be awarded a $50 prize.
The entry fee for the event is $1, and two ticket holders will receive a $100 or $50 prize. The final weigh-in will be at 7 p.m. on June 17.
