The theme for the weekend was ‘advancement,’ and all nine Scouts from Washburn earned a merit badge. Keagan Page, Kody Brissette, Stephen Kinney and Andy White earned First Aid, the Emergency Preparedness badge was earned by Jacob Reed and Nick Gumprecht. David Roy earned his Pioneering badge while Daniel Roy earned the Wood Carving badge and Curtis Thompson earned his Personal Management badge.
The boys also earned several camp awards during the cooking competition on Saturday evening using Dutch ovens. They earned third-place awards for two entries: Best Vegetable Dish which was Sparkling Potatoes with Broccoli and Cheese; and Best Homemade Bread, a sour dough bread. They also took second place for Best Dessert, with their entry of Apple Crisp with Blueberries. The troop took second place for the Best Overall Cooking and the Best Overall Campsite Inspection. The troop was surprised and very pleased with a drop-in visit from Tony Sellars who came from New York to spend the weekend with Troop 177.
