LITTLETON – A new 4.205-mile run was held in conjunction with the Maliseet Health Fair in the Maliseet River Village. After the runners completed their run they took advantage of the health fair.
“Each runner said they had a great time,” said organizer Larry Tonzi.
Runners were set off with the “Warrior’s Song” by the Native drumming group, The “Four Winds.”
“It is believed that their song provided good medicine or karma to aid the runners over the moderately hilly course,” Tonzi explained.
Native crafters provided the awards made of birch bark and sweetgrass.
The results of the run are as follows: Jeff Ashby, 27:26 (Champion and 2007 Aroostook Musterd Runner of the Year); Angela Ewings, 29:57; Evan Lewis, 31:31; Rich Ward, 32:00; Brenda Bailey, 34:21; Don Zillman, 35:20; Brent Bailey, 36:09; Jen Lynds, 36:33; Jessica Hicks, 37:55 and Wendy Lewis, 42:01.
Tonzi said he is looking forward to more participation in the future.
