PATTEN – Katahdin Valley Health Center’s fourth annual Autumn Golf Tourney was held Saturday, Oct. 6 at VaJoWa Golf Club in Island Falls, with beautiful weather and conditions.
The 18-hole scramble tournament raised more than $5,000 to benefit diabetes programs for area people.
Fifty-one people played in the tourney with the team of Allen Anderson, John Byron, Scot Walker and Steve Walker scoring a 57 to win first-place gross. The team of Don Kilgore, Richard Schmidt, Francis Cyr and Greg Douglas shot 48 to win first-place net.
Other prizes and raffle drawings were awarded prior to the steak and chicken dinner following the tournament.
VaJoWa Golf Course is a challenging course, featuring hills, changes in elevation and tough greens. At this tourney, golfers enjoyed spectacular views of surrounding hills and valleys during autumn’s peak foliage season.
During 2006 KVHC provided nearly $12,000 to diabetic patients by way of support supplies such as monitors, monitoring strips, syringes and educational programs. As a result of these supplies and programs, many of KVHC’s patients are now stable and managing their diabetes well.
On behalf of people suffering with diabetes throughout the Katahdin Region, KVHC extends a huge “thank you” to all the golfers and sponsors for making this another successful tournament.
