PRESENTATION OF COLORS — Members of the Maine Army National Guard’s Honor Guard presented the colors at the start of the Nov. 9 Veteran’s Day Breakfast at Hodgdon High School.
The panel also approved several contracts for removals for snow and solid waste during a meeting in Caribou last week.
Craig Williams of Freeport was hired as a new corrections officer at the Aroostook County jail in Houlton, according to county officials. The county officers also re-commissioned Sgt. Shawn Van Tasel of Houlton and Artemas Coffin of Ashland as deputy sheriffs.
In other activity, the panel approved the following contracts
• Five-year contract for snow removal with Oxbow Plantation for T-9 R-5. The contracts amounts are $18,613, $19,543, $20,521, $21,547 and $22,624.
• Three-year snow removal contract with New Sweden for the unorganized township of Connor in the amount of $21,811, $22,356 and $22,915.
• Five-year solid waste contract with Van Buren for T17 R3 in the amounts of $1,681, $1,708, $1,736, $1,765 and $1,794.
• Three-year solid waste contract with Mattawamkeag for TAR5 in the amounts of $9,071, $9,298 and $9,530.
• One-year snow removal contract with Rudolph St. Peter for Cross Lake Senior Center and Fire Station in the amount of $2,400.
• One-year snow removal contract with Long Lake Construction for Sinclair Senior Center and fire station in the amount of $3,700.
• Five-year solid waste interlocal contract with Presque Isle for T11 R4 in the amounts of $6,016, $6,166, $6,320, $6,478 and $6,640.
