PRESQUE ISLE – Aroostook County Action Program (ACAP) will hold its 35th annual meeting on Thursday, Nov. 15, in the Campus Center of the University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI).
The evening will begin with a reception at 5 p.m., followed by dinner and the annual meeting program at 5:30 p.m.
This annual meeting will review agency programs, celebrate successes and renew commitment to the people of Aroostook County. The 2007 Annual Report will be presented at the meeting. It celebrates the 35th anniversary, honors ACAP leadership over its history, focuses on individuals who have overcome poverty and highlights agency accomplishments during the past year. A display of information and photos will feature ACAP employees honored this year for achieving milestones of service to the agency, along with significant events of the past year.
Attorney General Steven G. Rowe will be the featured speaker, addressing the critical role of quality early care and education and its benefits to many, including children and their families, employers, as well as community and economic development leaders. He will also describe the need for more and affordable licensed early care and education.
“The Attorney General’s message is consistent with one that ACAP has been delivering for many years. As the cost to provide quality early care and education grows, we understand both its importance and the financial challenge it is for working parents,” said Connie Sandstrom, ACAP executive director.
ACAP provides the people of Aroostook with services and programs in the areas of health, nutrition, child and family, energy and housing, and employment and training, and, as a leader or in partnership with others, provides guidance to the community in responding to emerging human needs.
There is no cost, but if you would like to attend, reservations must be made no later than Nov. 9, by calling Janet Scott at 764-3721 or 800-432-7881.
