Two hurt in crash

    BRIDGEWATER, Maine — Two people were taken to the hospital following a Monday afternoon collision on U.S. Route 1 in Bridgewater.
    According to Sgt. Tom Pelletier of the Maine State Police, 59-year-old Deborah Mason of Westfield was southbound in a 2005 Dodge Ram when she lost control, spun backward and struck a northbound 2001 Chevy driven by 43-year-old Brent Delong of Blaine.
“Delong attempted to avoid Mason, [but] Mason struck the Chevy pickup just behind the driver’s door, ripping apart the pickup body,” added Pelletier.
Mason, who was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident, was taken by ambulance to The Aroostook Medical Center (TAMC) suffering from back and neck pain.
Delong, who suffered minor cuts to the face and back stiffness, was transported to TAMC by personal vehicle.     Police said he was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident, but that his air bag did deploy.
Both victims are expected to be treated and released.
Combined damage estimates for both vehicles was expected to top $20,000.
