News from the Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians

There will be a special election of the Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians vacant Tribal Council seat on Jan. 26, 2008, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. This will be held at the Housing Authority Building located at 13 Clover Court, Houlton, Maine 04730.
    Any elector is eligible to be a candidate for one Tribal Council seat with the exception of:
(A) Anyone who has been removed from office. He/She is ineligible to be a candidate for a period of eight (8) years from date of removal; or
(B) A convicted felon.
Nominee petitions will be available on Sat. Dec. 1st, and Sunday Dec. 2nd, from the hours of 12-4 p.m. both days at the Housing Authority Building. Other available days will be Dec. 5, 12 and 19 from 4-6 p.m.
