NMCC campaign nets $38,000 in gifts

    Officials from Northern Maine Community College are pleased to report that as the first-ever major gifts campaign undertaken by the College and the NMCC Foundation approaches its 10th month, the Campaign for the County’s College has received $38,744.50 in community gifts since July 2007. The latest announced donations bring the overall total of funds raised to $1,831,336.50, nearing the $2 million goal.     The 38 gifts, pledged by community donors and a number of county businesses between July and November, range from $10 to $7,840 and add to the previously announced total of community gifts released by the College in June of $72,475. Community gifts are defined as contributions in value of up to $10,000.
    “The support that we have received over the past 10 months has been amazing,” said NMCC President Timothy Crowley. “It is clear that the citizens and business owners of Aroostook County take great pride in supporting the education of NMCC students, and the County’s College. The funds raised through this campaign will have a significant impact on the institution for years to come.”
    With a goal of raising $2 million to fund student scholarships and instructional technology, as well as to assist the College in meeting immediate community needs, the Campaign for the County’s College was publicly launched by NMCC and the NMCC Foundation in late February 2007.
    Among the community donors since July 1 is Connect North America which made a technology gift valued at $7,840.
    Contributors at the $5,000 level include Dysart’s Service, Inc., Industrial Heating and Piping, Inc., and SFE Manufacturing, Inc.
    Making a gift of $4,707.50 is Dan Eber, Mary Darsch, and Michael Eber.
    Community supporters at the $2,000 level are Walter Purda and Davis CPA.
    Other community gifts received include: Vince and Kathy Bernier, $1,200; Hugh S. Kirkpatrick and Knox Machine Company, $1,000; Tori Barber, $520; Durward Huffman, Bridget A. McIntosh and Michael Wolland, Tom and Mary Umphrey, $500; Aroostook Chapter/Maine Harley Owners Group, John G. and Teresa Krass, John O’Donnell, $250; Craig and Annette Staples, $208; Virginia L.
