Andretta, Daniel B., 30, Caribou and Invergrove Heights, MN, November 27, 2007. Arrangements are in the care of the Lancaster-Morgan Funeral Home, Caribou.
CARIBOU, ME & INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, MN – Daniel B. Andretta, 30, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 27th, 2007. He was born April 26, 1977 in Edina, Minnesota, the son of Tony and Lori (Rikala) Andretta. A graduate of the University of Minnesota at Duluth with a BS in Biology, Dan was employed as an Agricultural Specialist for the Department of Homeland Security in the Customs Border Protection Unit, stationed in Van Buren, ME.
Dan lived with a quiet but intense passion for life and love that brought profound joy to all that he experienced and to those he knew and loved. An active runner, Dan always ran with son Isaac tucked into his jog stroller, not just for the extra resistance training, but because everything was more enjoyable when he shared it with his wife and children. Dan was also an active downhill skier and first learned to cross-country ski upon moving to Northern Maine. He attended the Presque Isle Wesleyan Church and mentored teens as a member of the church youth staff, where young people took to him immediately because of his sincere interest in others, easy manner and genuine kindness. Dan’s first priority was his relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Dan passionately loved his wife and children and enthusiastically embraced his roles as a devoted husband and loving father, spending his free time sharing his love of reading with his son on their “library Saturdays”, cooking meals for his wife and friends, inspired by secret Andretta family recipes from his Nonna, helping friends with various construction projects, or just strolling the neighborhood with the family, stopping to check in with friends. Dan was widely admired as a man of great humility and quiet composure, top quality integrity and character, and was a devoted servant of the Lord and his family; he will be sorrowfully missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Juris) Andretta and two sons Isaac Daniel and Tyler James Andretta of Caribou, his parents and one brother, Tony Andretta II, of Inver Grove Heights, MN, maternal grandmother, Laina Rikala, and paternal grandmother, Luisa Andretta. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Camillo Andretta, and maternal grandfather, Bernard Rikala.
Friends called from 7-9 p.m. Friday, November 30, 2007 at the Lancaster-Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover St, Caribou. Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at the Presque Isle Wesleyan Church with visitation from 9 a.m. until time of service. Committal services will take place in the spring. Arrangements in care of Lancaster-Morgan Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed online at www.lancastermorgan.com.
