PIHS Athlete of the week
The Varsity Club and Big Cheese Pizza are pleased to congratulate Ethan Hill and Hanna Cheney for being selected as athletes of the week for the week of Nov. 26 to Dec. 1. Hill stopped all five shooters in the sudden death shootout to lead the hockey team past Houlton in the championship game of their pre-season tournament.
Cheney’s attitude and work ethic during the pre-season has set an excellent example for her teammates on the girls’ varsity basketball team.
National baseball teams
Coast to Coast Baseball is inviting amateur baseball players between the ages of 13 to 15 and 16 to 18 to learn more about teams being formed to represent the USA in competition in Puerto Rico, Australia and Hawaii.

Girl’s youth hockey league
The girl’s youth hockey league began in October and continues to invite new participants. The program is for ages 10 to 17, and will run to March. The team meets at the Forum in Presque Isle on Tuesdays from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. and Wednesdays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. For more information contact Dennis Albert at 764-3862.
Maine Winter Sports Center
Volunteers are needed to help at the TAMC/TD Banknorth cross country ski event to be held at the Nordic Heritage Center on Dec. 15 and 16. For more information, call 551-1705 or email heidibartleynhsc@maine.rr.com.
Racer on-snow clinic for fourth to eighth grade students on Dec. 13, and for eighth to 12th grade students Dec. 14. For more information contact Eileen Carey at MWSC.

Maine Winter Sports Center announces a Ski Leader and Coach Education Clinic on Saturday, Dec, 22, at the Nordic Heritage Center.
The clinic will be on snow, and will offer sessions for the beginner volunteer and parent coach to the most experienced high school coaches.
Participants are welcome to come all day or just to the morning or afternoon session depending on their interests.
The morning session will begin at 9 a.m. and the afternoon session will begin at noon.
The day will wrap up with a ski wax clinic at 3 p.m. MWSC will provide skis to participants who need them.

Presque Isle High School season passes
PIHS athletics department announces that season passes for varsity basketball and ice hockey may be purchased at the athletic office.
Prices follow: basketball only $30, ice hockey only $25 and combination $50.
