Wildcat Dylan Collins snuck the puck past Houlton-Hodgdon goalie Malik Abouleish for the end of regulation time tie in the third period of last Tuesday’s hockey game.     The PIHS team effort led to the 2-1 victory over their archrivals the Black Hawks.
The Black Hawks scored the opening goal with seven minutes on the clock of the first period. The second went scoreless. Brennan Shaw assisted in the Collins goal in the third for the tie.
“Presque Isle started off the eight minutes sudden death overtime shorthanded,” explained head coach Carl Flynn. “But we successfully killed off the two-minute penalty.”
Greg Cyr found a gap in the defensive line for the winning score in overtime.
Senior goalie Ethan Hill blocked 38 of 39 shots to preserve the Wildcat lead.
The Wildcats again saw overtime action at the Kennebec Ice Arena against Gardiner last Friday with an unbroken tie at 3-3.

The Tigers took the lead midway through the first period after an aggressive 13 shots on goal to Presque Isle’s eight.
In the second, neither squad could break the defense as both made seven attempted attacks on their opponent’s net.
In the third period, Gardiner added another point to their total, but Shaw quickly returned the attack assisted by Collins and Cyr.
With 3:39 remaining, Zac Campbell drilled one into the net assisted by Shaw and Collins. Shaw made the tying shot with 1:11 left to go in regular time. Overtime remained scoreless.
In Saturday night hockey action, Winslow outshot PIHS 33-13 for the 2-0 win.
