Meetings
     There will be an information presentation by area health officials held at the Washburn Elementary School cafeteria on Thursday, Jan. 10, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The meeting will cover information on infection control concerning some of the new ‘super bugs.’. The meeting will include two guest speakers, a video and a PowerPoint presentation, along with a brief question and answer time offered.

    The Washburn Town Council will hold their regular meeting on Monday, Jan. 14, at 7 p.m. at the Civic Center. All interested residents are invited to attend.
  There will be a Rotary Supper and meeting held at the Civic Center at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 9. For further information, contact any Rotarian.
  The Oscar Dow Post 48 of the American Legion will hold their next meeting at the Washburn Civic Center at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15. Officers for the current year include: Commander Kermit Fuller, Vice Commander Willie Drost, Adjutant Larry Harrison and Treasurer Kathy Philbrook.
Birthdays/anniversaries

Town events
     TOPS will be meeting each Monday at the Washburn Trailrunners clubhouse starting with weigh-in at 4:15 p.m. and the meeting from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. For further information, contact Birdena Cochran at 455-8353.
  Bingo games are held at the Washburn Trailrunners Snowmobile clubhouse each Tuesday starting at 7 p.m.
starting on Jan. 4, there will be a public Stew Night at 5 p.m.; and every Saturday and Sunday morning, beginning Jan. 5 and 6, the Trailrunners will be serving breakfast at the clubhouse.
  The next Friendly Co-op order week is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 21 through Friday, Jan. 25. Delivery will be on Friday, Feb. 1, plan to pick up your orders that afternoon or evening. Orders may be e-mailed to bunny@ainop.com or phone Brenda at 455-8421 no later than Jan. 25.
Municipal information
     There are two seats for three-year terms on the Washburn Town Council available. There are also three seats on the SAD 45 School Board for three-year terms open. Nomination papers may be picked up at the Washburn Town Office during regular business hours.
  Washburn still has several openings on boards including two positions for alternates on the Zoning Board of Appeals, one seat and two vacancies for alternates on the Planning Board and two vacancies for seats on the Library Board of Trustees. Interested volunteers are needed, and anyone interested is asked to contact Andrea Powers, town manager, at the Washburn Town Office or phoning 455-8485 with any questions concerning the positions and/or the board.
Rec Center schedule
  There will be cross country skiing held on Wednesday, Jan. 9, and on Monday, Jan. 14, from 2:45 to 4:15 p.m.
  On Wednesday, Jan. 9, there will be a game for the grades 5-6 boys’ basketball team at Ashland starting at 5:30 p.m.
  On Friday, Jan. 11, there will be a movie at the Rec Center for grades K-4 from 2:45- 4:30 p.m. On Saturday, Jan. 12, the grades 5-6 girls’ basketball team will play at Easton at 12:30 p.m.
   On Monday, Jan. 14, grades 5-6 girls basketball will play at Ashland starting at 5:30 p.m.
   Also on Monday, Jan. 14, there will be men’s basketball at the high school gym from 6:30-9 p.m.

Library ‘bookmarks’
  The Women, Work and Community group will be meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 9, at 9 a.m. The group is considering having workshops in the near future, and some of the topics mentioned were self-esteem and stress management. For those wanting to know more about this group, feel free to phone the library at 455-4814 or Suzanne at the office of Women, Work and Community at 764-0050.
   Also on Wednesday, Jan. 9, the library’s Board of Trustees will meet at the library at 7 p.m.
  On Monday, Jan. 14, there will be a Story Hour at the library starting at 5:30 p.m.
Perham notes
  Nomination papers are available at the Town Office during normal business hours, and currently available are papers for one three-year position on the Board of Selectmen and one three-year position on the SAD 45 School Board. Nomination papers must be returned to the Perham Town Office by 4 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 31.
  There will be a Perham Selectmen’s meeting held at the Town Office on Monday, Jan. 2,1 at 6:30 p.m.
  Dog licenses are available and all dogs in Perham need to be licensed by Thursday, Jan. 3, to avoid a $15 late fee.
  Anyone wishing further information on Perham meetings or events is asked to contact Town Administrator Michele McLaughlin at the Town Office at 455-5887.
