DOVER-FOXCROFT – The Viking wrestlers continued to show progress in their maneuvers as they reposted their duel meet record at 18-5 after ending a competitive meet at Foxcroft Academy on Saturday. Caribou lost to Foxcroft and Camden Hills, but defeated George Stevens Academy by team points.
Senior Carlin Dubay maintained his undefeated status pinning Mark Badeau, of Foxcroft, with 17 seconds on the clock. In a rematch with Camden’s Kristi Pearce, Dubay claimed the technical fall in the third period to win by a 15-point advantage.
“Dubay is wrestling well,” said head coach Todd Albert. “It shows he has improved since last year.”
In the 112-pound division, Brian Vrieze pinned Foxcroft’s Matt Smith at 11 seconds and Camden’s Logan Rich at 4:45. In the 171-pound division, Corey Lajoie pinned Foxcroft’s Tristan Redmond at 54 seconds and Camden’s Ian MacKenzie at 47 seconds.
Last Wednesday, Caribou hosted Madawaska and Fort Kent to a round of defeat on the maroon mats.
Dubay pinned Madawaska’s Dolan Cyr at 2:53. Caribou’s Dan Saucier pinned Simon Morrow at 2:17 in the 125-pound division. At 130 pounds, Jerry Ferszt pinned his Owl wrestler, Tyler Remalia at 1:09.
Viking Danielle Landry pinned Pierre Savoie at 56 seconds in the 152-pound division, and Lajoie conquered Jesse Ouellette at 1:27 in the 160-pound class.
Against Fort Kent, Lance Jandreau pinned Shane Boutin at 1:46 in the 130-pound weight class. Ferszt had another victory over Cody Bennett at 23 seconds. Lajoie pinned Ronni Ricciardi at 1:36 in his division.
