BAR HARBOR – The Viking cheerleaders tumbled, chanted and pulled off stunts to a sixth place finish at the Penobscot Valley Conference cheerleading competition on Saturday. CHS competed in three rounds with a possible 175 points in each round. They scored 99.6, 100.1 and 99.85.

The squad includes seniors Krista Albert, Amber Pelletier, Samara Cyr, Jessica Ouimet and Erin Susee; junior Hannah Saunders; sophomores Megan Bechard, Megan Jandreau, Ashley Johndro, Taylor Willette, Janelle Kernan and Chelsea St. Peter; and freshmen Elainee Norris, Hannah Saucier, Sarah Peterson, Jessica Zbylut and Kyle McEwen.
The team is coached by Brandi Makepeace and garnered the direction for the routine from a new choreographer, William Paul.
“Paul brought a lot of new, fresh and different ideas to our routine,” said Makepeace. “We try not to think too much about our competition and other teams. We try more to focus on making ourselves better as a team and competing against ourselves by pushing our limits and improving as much as we can with every practice.”
The CHS cheerleaders will test their new heartbreak themed routine on Friday as they host the Aroostook League Championships.
