CARIBOU – Senior Viking Ben Rosser reached a personal best on Saturday in an impressive victory over Foxcroft Academy, 82-42. The center Rosser utilized his height and speed to slam in 23 points, a career-high for the athlete, and snagged 10 rebounds.

CHS went into the half confident of the outcome with 40-17 on the scoreboard.
“It’d been awhile since we’d blown anybody out,” said head coach Chris Casavant. “So it was good for their confidence.”
Jarryd Rossignol shot for 20 points and passed four assists. Kyle Corrigan sailed in another 10 for Caribou along with passing off eight assists and nabbing four steals.
Senior Robert Schuster tallied up four assists and two steals for the Vikings.
Senior Karyn King piloted the CHS girls’ varsity squad in their low-scoring victory over Foxcroft, 34-27. King didn’t have the team high, adding eight points, but tore down 13 rebounds and swiped four steals.
“She’s our anchor,” noted head coach Bill Schofield. “She’s the best defender, always has to defend bigger and stronger girls, and still helps her teammates.”
According to Schofield, King played like a rebounding machine in Saturday’s home game.
The Viking defense also proved proficient at holding back Foxcroft’s Vanessa Lougee to 11 points. CHS guarded the athlete with extra force due to her low free throw percentage. Lougee shot only five for 17 from the foul line.
“We would’ve changed tactics if she had made fouls,” said Schofield. “They are going to be a good team in the future.” Foxcroft currently starts three sophomores.
Kristen Espling had Caribou’s team-high of 11 points.
The Vikings’ senior triple-threat again led the boys’ varsity basketball team to an aggressive defensive victory on their home court on Tuesday, Jan. 8. The high-pressure team pounded back Houlton, 46-41.
Senior point guard Corrigan triggered in two three-pointers to the game-high 15 points, while Rossignol launched in three three-pointers toward his 11-point game total.
Rosser controlled the inside for 10 points over the Shiretowners.
The Houlton girls proved a formidable opponent boasting home court advantage and a 7-1 record before last Wednesday’s game against the Caribou Vikings.
The Shiretowners stormed out to an early advantage and added another tick in the win column, 45-26.
Viking King had six points for Caribou.
