PRESQUE ISLE – An artist whose work is on display at the University of Maine at Presque Isle will be on campus for a reception at the Reed Art Gallery on Thursday, Jan. 17, at 7 p.m.
The opening reception for Frederick Lynch’s solo exhibit “Divisions” was set to take place in early December but had to be rescheduled due to unforeseen circumstances.
Lynch’s exhibit includes a selection of drawings and paintings that offer a representational glimpse of his recent exploration, which according to Sandra Huck, gallery director, “is based on the idea that repeated sectoring of a given area can produce infinite shape variations.”
The artist received his BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art and his master’s of education degree from Westfield State College in Westfield, Mass.
He has done post-graduate studies at the University of Massachusetts; Instituto de Allende, Mexico; and the Massachusetts and Maine Colleges of Art. He has taught at the University of Southern Maine, Colby College and the Haystack School of Crafts on Deer Isle.
His work is in the collections of the Portland Museum of Art, the De Cordova Museum, Farnsworth Art Museum, Little Rock Art Center, Bank of New Hampshire and the University of Southern Maine.
The public is invited to view Lynch’s show and attend his reception.
    Light refreshments will be served.

Lynch’s works will remain on display through Saturday, Jan. 26. Gallery hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The gallery is closed Sundays and university holidays.
