Dubay, Hector A., 82, Van Buren, in Caribou, February 27, 2008. Funeral will be postponed until May. Arrangements are in the care of the Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, Van Buren.

 

ImageImageImage    VAN BUREN – Hector Alphe Dubay, 82, died Feb. 27, 2008, at Maine Veterans Home in Caribou. He was born in Van Buren, Feb. 23, 1926, the 11th child of 19 born to Leon M. and Annie M. (Violette) Dubay. He was drafted into the US Army and served from 1944 to 1946 in the Field Artillery Battalion which deployed to the European Theatre during World War II.  Following his military service he was employed by James Franck, Sr., Albert Franck and then Jimmy Frank, Jr. at their grocery stores and slaughter houses. It was then he started his life-long career as a meat cutter while utilizing his GI benefits. He was then employed as a meat cutter at the commissary at Loring Air Force Base, retiring after 27 years. He was a life member of the American Legion, Levasseur-Farrell Post 49 of Van Buren and the VFW Lister-Knowlton Post 9389 of Caribou, and enjoyed participating in their activities.  Hector was an avid outdoorsman no matter the season and was happiest when outside.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and riding his ATV.  He loved his family immensely and they in turn. He was a good father, husband, and provider who was loved dearly and will be sorely missed by all. He married Lucille Rivard, daughter of Rodolphe and Cecile (Bouchard) Rivard in St. Leonard, N.B., Canada on Aug. 2, 1949.
    In addition to his wife Lucille of Van Buren, he is survived by three daughters, Anne Labbe and her husband Roger of Lisbon Falls, Katherine Dubay of Winthrop, Jeannine Dubay of Lewiston, Richard “Dicky” Dubay of Dover, NH and David Dubay and his wife Reba of Austin, TX;  three grandchildren, Eric Labbe, Robyn Dubay and Simone Dubay; two great grandchildren, Drew and Madison Labbe; three brothers, Emery Dubay of Sanford, Guy Dubay of East Hartford, CT, Bob Dubay and his wife Rena of Mapleton; eight sisters, Edna Bouchard of Ayers, MA; Louise Cyr of Winter Park, FL, Artheline Girardin and husband Gus of Windsor Locks, CT; Cecile Clavette and husband Eddie of Ellington, CT; Teresa Smiarowski, Jeanne Mitera and husband Dick all of Plainville, CT; Juliette Laria and husband John of West Hartford, CT; Alice Dionne of South Windsor, CT; a sister-in-law, Muriel Dubay of New Hartford, CT; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Homer, Gilbert and Leon Dubay, Jr. and by sisters, Gertrude Tousignant, Pauline Roullard, Sr. Leanne Dubay and Isabelle Dubay.
    Due to family considerations, his funeral will be postponed until May, 2008.  Relatives and friends may call at the Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren, from 9 a.m. until time of service on Saturday, May 24.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 24.
