Officials with United Insurance Group have announced that the company is recommitting its financial investment in Aroostook Partnership for Progress pledging $50,000 to the APP, a private-public economic development partnership.     UIG, a statewide organization with deep roots in Aroostook County, is a founding investor of APP and a member of the APP Board of Directors since 2004.
Chris Condon, UIG’s chief operating officer, stated, “We are pleased to financially recommit to APP. APP has developed a solid regional approach to economic development in the County and generated considerable success over the past four years, and more work needs to be done. UIG is convinced that APP has the process in place to address the opportunities and challenges going forward.”
Acknowledging UIG’s investment, Larry Shaw, chairperson of APP, stated, “We are pleased to have UIG recommit to the Partnership. The private sector is critical to the success of APP and UIG has been part of APP from its beginning. Their decision to recommit says a lot about the APP program.”
Headquartered in Falmouth, UIG is a statewide organization of independent insurance professionals who have combined their resources to provide comprehensive business and personal insurance. Scott Kent, managing general partner of Thibodeau’s Insurance Agency in Fort Kent, sits on the APP Board of Directors. UIG is comprised of Thibodeau’s in Fort Kent and similar independent agencies in Madawaska, Van Buren, Limestone, Fort Fairfield, Presque Isle, South China, Jefferson, Monmouth, Falmouth, Lewiston and Rumford.
Dedicated to results-oriented economic development of Aroostook County, APP has had considerable success since 2004, attracting approximately 1,000 new jobs and $140 million in new investment. APP actively recruits business to northern Maine while also responding to requests for information from individual firms, site location consultants, the state of Maine, and statewide economic development agencies.
