A benefit supper was held for David Parady on March 2 at the VFW Hall in Island Falls. It was very well attended. Dave and wife Janette were very pleased at the kindness and thoughtfulness shown to them. Dave is now undergoing radiation treatment, and we all send him very best wishes.
The Lenten breakfast scheduled for March 2 was canceled as all driveways, including the church, were effectively clogged with snow. Church, however, started on time, as all the snow plowers were out in force clearing driveways by 9.30 a.m. This breakfast will be put ahead to March 23 and will be held following Sunrise Services.
I’m sure everyone is sick to death of all the snow that has arrived this winter and among them are all by feathered friends, who have really been active, hanging on the bags of suet in the cedar tree and gobbling down the sunflower seeds. And the mixture of peanut butter and lard disappears rapidly, especially when the black birds are around, and the woodpeckers.
The two little red squirrels have fun hiding in the feeders while munching on the seeds and I now have three gray squirrels who also fit themselves into the feeders to fill up on seeds. The other afternoon, I had six deer out by my kitchen window busily eating the bread and apples I had put out for them. I have taken some pictures of them as they very laboriously make their way through the snow to the plowed area where the food is. I’m sure all these animals will welcome spring along with us humans.
