Houlton – Aaron Hacker Putnam, 87, died March 9, 2008, at a local hospital. He was born September 13, 1920, at Houlton, the son of Aaron A. and Maria (Hacker) Putnam.
Aaron attended Houlton schools and graduated from the University of Maine with a degree in Engineering and was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity while at the university. He was employed by the United States Government as an engineer, worked in many parts of the United States, England and Germany. He was a member of the Houlton Unitarian Universalist Church.
Hacker is survived by his brother, John Putnam; his two sisters, Maria Louise Putnam and Elizabeth Putnam all of Houlton; two step-sons, Mark Ciaraldi and his wife Sarah of Manchester, CT, Stephen Ciaraldi and his wife May-Britt, their son Thomas all of Jakaarta, Indonesia; step-daughter, Susan Speese, her children Benjamin and Savannah all of Richmond, VA. He was predeceased by his parents and wife, Letty Jean Putnam.
At Hacker’s request, there will be no visitation or service at this time. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in the spring. Gifts may be made in Hacker’s memory to the Cary Library, c/o Dunn Funeral Home, 11 Park Street, Houlton, 04730.
