Homemaker’s tour commerce center

    The New Sweden Homemaker’s extension met Feb. 19 for lunch at Pizza Hut in Caribou with the following members present: Donna Cyr, Betty Grant, Deleen Johnson, Arlene Plourde, Joanne Smith, Louanne Skidgel and Dot Tomlinson with three guests.     Following the luncheon, the group traveled to the Loring Commerce Center and enjoyed a tour of Hydroblend Inc. World Class Batters and Blending.
    Plant manager Raymond Cyr gave an excellent and informative view of mixing flour and spices for Batters and Breading.
    The group came away with some very interesting baking tips.

Local student makes dean’s list

    BEAVER FALL, Pa. – Geneva College recently named local student Sara Davis, of Washburn, a graduate of Washburn District High School, to the dean's list for the fall 2007 semester. Davis is a freshman majoring in biology. Dean's list status is awarded to those students who have achieved a 3.6 GPA or higher throughout the semester.
