MOMENTUM — Jon Prescott, president and CEO of Katahdin Trust Company, presents Momentum Aroostook Board Chairman Nathan Berry with a $1,250 check. The move makes Katahdin Trust Company the latest major sponsor of Momentum Aroostook. Momentum Aroostook Board Chairman Nathan Berry announced Wednesday that Katahdin Trust Company has agreed to serve as Momentum’s fourth major sponsor, providing a $1,250 sponsorship, which will offset operating and programming costs.
“We’re excited that Katahdin Trust Company has chosen to step up as one of our ‘corner sponsors’ and support our efforts to effect positive change for the local area and young professionals who are choosing to live here,” Berry said.
Momentum Aroostook is an organization that offers younger members of the County workforce the opportunity to use their talents, skills, enthusiasm and high energy to further their own growth and career interests while seeking ways to support community needs. The County-wide networking group, geared toward the 20- to 40-year-old population, is working to shape the economic, social and recreational future of the area.
“We are very pleased to support this new initiative,” said Jon Prescott, president and CEO of Katahdin Trust Company. “We believe that Momentum Aroostook can be a vital partner in helping to keep the area’s most important asset – its youth – in Aroostook County.”
Momentum Aroostook is working on several projects to effect positive changes in the area, such as establishing a business professional internship program and organizing a year’s worth of professional, cultural and recreational programming. These projects are made possible because of Momentum’s corner sponsors.
The organization is part of a statewide initiative called REALIZE!Maine. REALIZE, managed by the Maine Development Foundation, aims to help strengthen the network of young people in their professions and workplaces and to help entice more young professionals to locate in the state.
