A wish for a better government

    To the editor:
The more I read in Pioneer Times, the more I have to come to the conclusion that perhaps the town government needs more than just help. We should “elect” the right people for the job, not just people who just care for themselves and interest groups. “Elect” officials that care for people.
One could wish for a better government, but most of us wish for many things that never happen. It can happen if the people work together and want to make things better.
After reading the March 5 story “Houlton officials should be setting a better example,” I wonder how could some of these so-called officials know anything about pride and respect if “perhaps” they never had it on the council.
All the years that I have been attending council meetings – as a councilor and a citizen – never have I seen such poor leadership. One could say the head of the Town Council (Chairman) should show more “professionalism.” After all, this is our town government.
For the future, we need better government. On the street one hears such things as “what is happening to our government?”
