Clayton and Charlene Webb were guests over the Easter weekend  with their niece and family, Greg and Darlene Kenny, where they enjoyed a traditional ham dinner along with a great variety of desserts. The Webbs returned home on Tuesday, March 25.
I have recently had a letter from a former resident of Island Falls, Ginny Mooers, and she says that in Virginia where she now lives, that they are enjoying 75 degree temperatures. Doesn’t that sound good? Probably in July we will reach that temperature, if we are lucky.
Eddie Webb and wife, Tammy,  have returned home to Hampden after spending a weekend at Pleasant Pond where they  did a lot of ice fishing. They were lucky in their attempts and went home with two nice salmon. Eddie is the son of the late “Buddy” and Audrey Curry Webb and visits quite often with his relatives in the area.
I have finally gotten some of the ice from the area around my front door as we had  a couple of quite warm days and melted the ice enough for me to chop it all up and heave it onto a couple of big snow banks beside my front door.
I spied a coon the other night coming from my barn and I was right in deciding that it was a coon getting into my feeders and gobbling all the sunflower seeds. I imagine this winter has been hard on them, too. I have a great flock of birds now and the other day had the red-winged blackbirds came back.
And for my friends who reside in sunny California, the thoroughfare at Mattawamkeag is open and I heard that the ice is pulling away from the shore now, so maybe by the time they arrive in Maine for the summer the ice will be out and most of the snow gone.
I still have many deer arriving for their daily treats. I’ll be glad when they can finally find it easier to get to my feeding area without wading through all that snow.
My gray squirrels are still hanging in there by their toenails it looks like when  they are after the sunflower seeds and the little red squirrels are still sitting right in the feeders and chomping away. I have to refill everything every morning as the coon makes short work of all the seeds in the feeders. I still have the two cats in the barn so my menagerie is still with me and keeping me busy feeding them all.
