April vacation activities
The following are activities being offered during April vacation. Pre-registration is required for all programs. On Tuesday, April 22, students in grades five to eight are invited to attend an Earth Day trip to Aroostook Wildlife Refuge. The trip will include skiing, a barbeque lunch and sight-seeing. There is a $10 fee. On Wednesday, April 23, students in grades five to eight are invited to go on a trip to Bradbury’s Sugar Shack in Bridgewater. Participants are asked to bring a backpack and bag lunch. The fee is $5. Also on Wednesday a detective science session will be held for students from kindergarten to fourth grade. Participants will learn about forensic science. There is no fee.
On Thursday, April 24, students in kindergarten through fourth grade are invited to a kite making workshop. There is no fee. Also on Thursday for students in grades five to eight is a rock climbing session at Gentile Hall at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. This is a rock climbing and swimming field trip. The fee is $7.
On Friday, April 25, there will be a spring trip to Francis Malcolm Science Center. The fee is $5. Participants must bring a bag lunch.
Vacation week schedule
Open gym is Monday through Thursday from noon to 9 p.m. and closed on Friday and Saturday due to bleacher installation. The walking schedule is Monday through Friday 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday 1 to 5 p.m. game room hours are Monday through Friday from noon to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m.
Adult softball meeting set
The Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center will hold organizational meetings for adult and coed softball on Wednesday, April 16. The softball meeting will begin at 6 p.m. with the baseball following at 7 p.m. Any team wishing to participate must have a representative at the meeting. Anyone who is not on a team and wishes to play should call the Recreation Department at 493-4224.
Dodge ball
The Recreation Center will have dodge ball for grades five to eight from 3 to 5 p.m. on April 16, 28 and 30. Participants do not need to pre-register for this program.
