HOULTON – Morgan Renee Cowett, 14, lost her precious life to cancer April 19, 2008, peacefully with her loving mother by her side at a Bangor hospital. She was born April 28, 1993, in Houlton, the daughter of Steve and Janice (Rand) Cowett; and sister to Sarah Jane Cowett of Houlton.
Morgan was a student at Houlton High School, and was cared for by many people in her community. She won the hearts of many wonderful people at Eastern Maine Medical Center. Those who had the pleasure to get to know her saw her beautiful spirit. She had a wonderful connection with animals and nature. Even the most timid animals knew they could trust her. Her favorite activity was volunteering at the animal shelter and she did so with her family every week for more than four years. Her sister was her best friend and she was happiest spending time with her family. Her carefree spirit allowed her to giggle easily and dance freely to her favorite music. Although her life was short, she knew how to enjoy the finer things and brought those around her much joy. Words can not express how much she is loved and will be missed.
She was the granddaughter of Camilla and the late Everett Cowett, and Richard and Thelma Rand; the great-granddaughter of Evelyn Trombley, all of Presque Isle; and has many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Houlton Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Wayne Robertson officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Houlton. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to donate in Morgan's memory may do so to the Houlton Humane Society or Arthur Howell's Wildlife Refuge, care of Bowers Funeral Home, P.O.
