The Fort Fairfield Chamber of Commerce sponsors the yearly event for Maine and New Brunswick golf clubs and businesses to display their facilities and products to the golfing public. “The chamber feels this is a great opportunity to bring people to our community for a fun event, and get everyone excited about the upcoming golf season,” said Janet Kelle, of the FFCC.
The 2008 exhibitors included Aline, Aroostook County Tourism, Aroostook Valley Country Club, Caron’s Equipment Sales and Service, Cary Medical Center, Fraser Golf Carts Sales and Service, JATO Highlands, Maine Golf Association, Maine Handicapped Skiing, Maine Winter Sports Center, Mars Hill Country Club, Mojo, Plourde and Plourde, Presque Isle Country Club and Va Jo Wa Golf Course.
The day’s many raffle drawings ended in a grand prize drawing for a 2000 Yamaha Golf Cart, won by Sean Bernard. Competitions included a $10,000 putting contest for men and women and the Maine Winter Sports Center biathlon laser rifle range. Lori Eckerstorfer and Mark Fitzherbert qualified for the final put, but there was no winner.
Despite the snowy weather that made travel difficult, all organizers and participants voted the expo a success. “I have been hearing wonderful comments from attendees and exhibitors alike that they really enjoyed the show, and they look forward to it each year,” said Kelle.
