PRESQUE ISLE – The 45th Anah Shrine Circus will be in Presque Isle at the Forum on May 1, 2 and 3. This year’s Shrine Circus is produced by the Royal Hanneford Circus, one of the biggest names in the circus industry, and is coming to Maine specifically for the Anah Shrine Circus. The members of the Aroostook Shrine Club have been working hard since last summer planning for the 2008 Anah Shrine Circus. Over 100 volunteers have been organizing, ordering supplies and getting ready for the Anah Shrine’s biggest event of the year.
Acts for this year’s Shrine Circus come from all around the world, and many of the acts are first time ever to Maine. The Mongolian Archers will demonstrate their daring and expertise shooting arrows from a bow and a crossbow, while blindfolded. Luciano’s Pound Puppies is a unique act involving dogs rescued from animal control services. Luciano takes ordinary dogs that he has rescued and trains them. You will not believe how incredibly these ordinary-looking dogs perform. The circus will also feature a rocket ship fantasy flight with an astounding exhibition of balance, strength and endurance. BMX bicycle champion Brett Marshall will demonstrate his invention, ‘the rollover bike.’ These new and traditional circus acts will delight spectators, young and old alike.
The Anah Shrine Circus will be appearing in Presque Isle on May 1, 2 and 3 at the Forum. Tickets will be available at locations including the Forum, Clukey’s Auto Supply, all Aroostook Burger King restaurants, York’s bookstore in Houlton and Aroostook Subway restaurants.
This year’s circus will feature a Senior Citizen Night on Thursday, May 1, with all senior citizen tickets half price. This senior event is being sponsored by The Aroostook Area Agency on Aging. The half-price tickets will be available at the door the night of the show.
Show times will be Thursday, May 1, at 7 p.m.; Friday, May 2, at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and Saturday, May 3, at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
