The Maine 7 Chapter of the Red Knights International Firefighters Motorcycle Club, pictures above, held its first meeting of 2008 April 20, at the Presque Isle Fire Department. The Maine 7 Chapter was started during the fall of 2007 and currently has a membership numbering 24. Members are made up of firefighters from central Aroostook fire departments.
During the meeting, the club voted to support the following charities: The Aroostook County Learn Not To Burn Program, Maine Medical Center’s Burn Unit and Cary Medical Center’s Camp Adventure (a summer education/adventure camp for teens with Type 1 diabetes.)
The Red Knights Maine 7 will be conducting charity fund drives throughout the summer and encourage community members to support their efforts.
An upcoming fund-raiser scheduled is a carwash at the Caribou Fire Department, Saturday, May 3, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Following this same schedule, also on May 3, another carwash will be held at the corner of Church and Main Streets in Presque Isle.
The Maine 7 Chapter of the Red Knights’ mission statement reads:
To promote motorcycle safety;

To enjoy the fraternity of firefighters; and
To engage exclusively in social, charitable and educational activities directed at increasing the general understanding of, competency, sportsmanship and participation in the sport of motorcycling.
