Pauline Arbo Foster

Foster, Pauline A., 80, May 17, 2008.  Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls.  Interment was held in the Patten Cemetery.
    PATTEN – Pauline Arbo Foster, 80, passed in peace on May 17, 2008, with her children by her side. She was born to the late Frederick L., Sr. and Faustina (Scribner) Quint on May 27, 1927, at the Happy Corner family farm in Patten, Maine.
    She was a 1944 graduate of Patten Academy and the University of Maine in 1948.  Pauline was a Home Ec. teacher at Stearns High School of Millinocket from 1948-1952, subsituted at Patten Academy over several years and then taught Home Ec. at the opening of Katahdin High School in 1967, until retiring in 1984.  She was a Past Matron of Pleiades Chapter OES; belonged to Molunkus Chapter OES; past Noble of Grand Rebekah Lodge of Patten; member of VFW Island Falls; member of Stetson Memorial United Methodist Church in Patten, where she taught Sunday school for many years; past president and honorary member of Patten Women's Club; Patten Academy Trustee and Secretary for many years; Chairman of Southern Aroostook Extension Service for many years; Patten Academy 4-H Leader. Pauline was a member of MTA, Maine Future Homemakers Association and HERO; past area chairman of American Red Cross; school board member of SAD #25.
    Pauline married the late Russell E. Arbo in 1949 with whom she had nine children and later in life married the late Halton Foster in 1982. Pauline is survived by eight children; Margo and Dan Sartory of Port Orange, FL, Michael and Dawn Arbo of Patten, Mari and John Birmingham of Patten, Martin and Darlah Arbo of Patten, Matthew and Cindy Arbo of Dry Branch, WV, Malcolm Arbo of Providence RI, Maxfred and Paula Arbo of Cross, SC, Martha and Steven Trembley of Patten; ten special grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Frederick Quint, Jr.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She will also be missed by her special friends a.k.a "The Hood" of Port Orange, FL where she spent several winters. She was predeceased by a son, Mark Arbo; a special granddaughter, Tina Birmingham; and sisters, Margaret Laurusonis, Winifred Bradstreet and Melvina Hathaway.
    Friends called 11 a.m. -12 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2008, at Stetson Memorial United Methodist Church, Patten, where funeral services were held at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Tae Sung Kang as officiant.  Interment was in the Patten Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate to the Stetson Memorial United Methodist Church, Main Street Flag Fund of Patten, or the Lumberman's Museum.  Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls.
