DYER BROOK, Maine — The 32nd annual Student Loggers’ Competition was held at Southern Aroostook Community School in Dyer Brook, Maine, May 15 and 16.
Schools from Foster, Oxford Hills, Region 2 in southern Aroostook, Region 3 in Lincoln and Region 9 in Rumford, participated in 15 competitions dealing with various logging skills. Region 2, including the schools of Southern Aroostook, Houlton, Hodgdon, Katahdin, and East Grand, received the Sportsmanship Award for the overall competition.
Region 2 placed in the following: Dot Split, second place, Jesse Varney and Josh Green; Distance Pulp Throw, first place, Robbie Aucoin, Nick Goodness and Devin Faulkner; Loader Competition, third place, Mike Casey and Tom Schools; Cookie Cut, first place, Tim Suitter; Cookie Stack, third place, Robbie Aucoin; Precision Bucking, second place, Nick Goodness; 2-person Cross-Cut, 2nd place, Josh Green, Jeremy McNally, Tom Schools and Koby Botting; Forwarder Simulator, 1st place, Mike Casey; Harvester Simulator, 3rd place, Josh Green; Individual Game of Logging, 3rd place, Tom Schools; and Tug of War, 1st place, Robbie Aucoin, Tom Schools, Nick Goodness, Mike Case, Koby Botting, Devan Faulkner, and Josh Jacobs.
