WATERVILLE – The Wildcat girls’ tennis team could make history today at Colby College as they face Camden Hills in the Eastern Maine Class B final.
If the Presque Isle High School girls defeat the Windjammers, they will have the distinction of the first girls’ tennis team from PIHS to win an Eastern Maine title.

According to head coach Tim Dolley, the team has a good chance at keeping their undefeated season.
Waterville, whom PIHS defeated in the semifinal to get to today’s match, was the only team to stop the Windjammers this season.
Sarah Porter, Allison Dean and Amy Michaud all volleyed for the victory in their singles matches with Waterville on Friday.
“That’s probably the best tennis I’ve seen them play all season,” said Dolley.
Porter took her match 6-2 and 7-5, Dean 6-3 and 6-1and Michaud 6-0 and 6-4. Brittany Bearden and Alyssa Farley fell 6-1 and 6-2, and Jen Steeves and Madelyn Carson lost in a tight match 6-3, 7-6 and 7-3.
The Presque Isle girls’ tennis team moved on to semifinals after their competition with Caribou last Thursday, 3-2.
Both Wildcat doubles teams posted victories against the Vikings.
Bearden and Farley stopped Missy Nadeau and Elizabeth Barbosa (7-5, 6-4), and Steeves and Carson defeated Megan Nadeau and Lydia Kieffer (4-6, 6-1, 6-0).
Michaud’s consistent game stopped Nicole Nadeau (6-4, 6-4). Porter dropped her match (2-6, 6-4, 6-3), and Dean fell to her opponent (6-7, 6-2, 6-0).
Presque Isle boys’ tennis secured their spot in the Eastern Maine quarterfinals defeating number-nine Rockland 5-0 in the June 3 preliminary.
In singles, Alex Carter defeated Aaron Hadley (6-0, forfeit), Ben Picard defeated Ian Ellis (6-3, 6-2) and Sam Picard topped Ben Ward (6-3, 6-3).
In doubles, Chris Cawley and Caleb Mathers served defeat to Al Miller and Mike Norman (6-0, 3-6, 6-3), and Bryce Fagin and Kyle Gilson overtook Jason Pier and Devin Ransdell (6-2, 3-6, 6-4).
The Wildcat boys ended their season against number-one Caribou in the quarterfinals, 5-0.
