BIKE PATROL OFFICER — Houlton Police Officer Ezekiel Collins takes on his new responsibility as the town’s “beat officer” patrolling events such as band concerts, parades, fairs, games and numerous other events.
Officer Collins will be assigned to a cruiser when he is on-duty. The only difference is his cruiser will have a bicycle mounted on the back of it. The bike officers are utilized during spring/summer months. They are an economic benefit in terms of efficiency, effectiveness and positive public contact, says Chief Butch Asselin. Officer Collins was seen on Court Street last Tuesday, June 10 with his new wheels.
