PRESQUE ISLE – Presque Isle High School held their spring athletic awards banquet on June 2.
The following girls’ tennis players received varsity letters. Presented their first year letter was sophomore Alyssa Farley. Presented their second year letter was sophomore Madelyn Carson. Presented their third year letter were juniors Brittany Bearden, Sarah Porter and Jen Steeves. Presented their fourth year letter were Allison Dean and Amy Michaud. The following boys’ tennis players received varsity letters. Presented their first year letter were freshmen Caleb Mathers and Michael Picard, sophomore Kyle Gilson and senior manager Erika McKay. Presented their second year letter was sophomore Chris Cawley. Presented their third year letter were juniors Alex Carter and Ben Picard and senior Bryce Fagin. Presented their fourth year letter was senior Sam Picard.
The following softball players received varsity letters. Presented their first year letter were freshmen Abbie LaPointe and Alecia Palmer and sophomores Amy Grivois, Kelsey Park and Jenna Stephenson. Presented their second year letter were sophomores Jodie Buckley and Krista Coffin, junior Kayla Legassie and senior Tiffany Martin. Presented their third year letter were juniors Emilee Currie and Allison Young. Presented their fourth year letter were seniors Allisen Donovan and Caroline Freeman.
The following baseball players received varsity letters. Presented their first year letter were junior manager Kaitlin Lambert and senior Adam Kingsbury. Presented their second year letter were sophomores Ethan Braley, Steven Ford, Matt Chasse, Dillon Kingsbury, Amos Dean and Brennen Shaw; junior Eric Morris and senior Nic Gallant. Presented their third year letter was senior Bennett Cassidy.
The following girls’ track and field athletes received varsity letters. Presented their first year letter were freshmen Shae Adler, Jaylee Fox, Mackenzie Pinette and Tessa Ward; sophomore Cecilia Buch; and seniors Lydai Brown, Roselyn Forbes, Daryl Ann Girardin, Nicole Jimenez, Marila Marecos and Keisha Ward. Presented their second year letter were sophomores Hallie Bartlett, Julia Brown and Jerica Fox. Presented their third year letter were juniors Krista Buck, Jocelyn Davis, Amber Griffin, Sarah Tompkins and Katrina Whittier. Presented their fourth year letter were Arielle Googins and Ashley Williamson.
The following boys’ track and field athletes received varsity letters. Presented their first year letter were freshmen Paul Elish and Oliver Zubrick; sophomore Nnazowa Nnazor; juniors Matt Dunn, Matt Flora, manager Desiree Higgins and manager Jenna Watt; and seniors Richard Byrnes, Matt Howe and Josh Jouvelakos. Presented their second year letter were junior Lucas Richards and senior Matt Harris. Presented their third year letter were juniors Brandon Hafford, Jason Johnson and Evan Richards and seniors Gerard Desjardins, Elizan McLean, Corey Park and Ryan Winslow.
Penobscot Valley Conference awards were also announced. In girls’ tennis, Porter was named to first team singles, Dean was named to second team singles, Michaud received honorable mention singles, Bearden and Farley were named to first team doubles and Steeves and Carson were named to second team doubles.
In boys’ tennis, Carter was named to first team singles and Mathers and Cawley received honorable mention doubles.
Gallant received the Aaron S. Archer Memorial Baseball Award, and Cassidy received the Donald B. White Memorial Baseball Award.
The Gary Demerchand Memorial Award, a late soccer acknowledgement, went to Parker Hovey. Hovey also received the United States Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award for displaying courage, poise, self-confidence and leadership as a high school athlete.
