Sharing warmth

SHARING WARMTH — From left, Deacon Al Burleigh, Father Ron LaBarre and Anita Hubert show a few of the 200 hand-knit sweaters set to be mailed to Canto Grande, Peru as part of the “Share Your Warmth with the Children” project.
The church there, which includes two schools, is a sister parish to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Houlton and the goal is to make sweaters for all its school children. The first batch of sweaters is scheduled to be sent the first week of July and were made thanks to support from people in Houlton, Patten, Island Falls, Monticello and Littleton. Donations, and finished sweaters, are still being accepted for future shipments. Patterns are available at St. Mary’s.
