The hospital blanket opens, revealing my big brown eyes and curls of brown hair. My dad looks down at me, and right away, I know I am going to have a great life!

My dad is like a dictionary; always knowing what to say and how to say it. When I need help or am sad, he’s always there for me to lean on.
My dad isn’t just great – he’s wonderful! He makes me lunch, he tucks me in at night, but more importantly, he fills me with confidence. When I say I can’t do something, he’s always there to tell me I can. When he tells me he loves me, I know I can do anything!
One thing my dad is famous for, well … in my world, is his music. First of all, he loves to listen to music with me. Secondly, he loves playing the drums and teaching me how to play them, too. He smiles with happiness as we’re playing together. And when he’s happy, I’m happy.
My dad and I are also very connected by sports. Our favorite sports are baseball and football. Boston Red Sox is our favorite professional baseball team. My dad always buys me Red Sox T-shirts and hats. Green Bay Packers is our favorite professional football team. I always buy him football blankets and watches with their logo. We watch football and baseball almost every week. But our love of sports is only one of the ways we are connected.
Let’s cook! My dad and I love to cook together. We make cookies and pancakes. We also make peanut butter and chocolate sweets! I take two Ritz crackers and fill them with peanut butter, and then my dad dips them in hot fudge – Yum! You can’t even imagine how good they taste! When I wake up in the morning on my birthday, I can smell fresh pancakes and sizzling bacon frying on the stove. What a way to start the day!
Music, sports, and cooking are just a few of the things my dad and I do together. That’s why he’s my Top Pop!
Don’t you wish he was your dad?

Making sacrifices

My Dad is the best dad in the whole entire universe. I think so because he is very kind, and he always looks out for his family. My Dad is thoughtful, generous, and very caring.
He is special for many reasons. During the winter, my dad takes me snowmobiling, snowshoeing and builds snowmen with me. During the summertime, my Dad takes me camping, and we usually go fishing when we go camping. During some of the springtime, it is basketball season; my Dad has been my basketball coach for the past three years, and he is the BEST coach ever! In the fall, it is hunting season. During hunting season, my Dad and I usually go partridge hunting together. While we go partridge hunting, he shoots the partridge and I watch him so I can learn how. I’m 10 years old now, so I will be able to hunt this year! I think I’ll be really good, because I have a great learning experience from my Dad.
This is one of the sacrifices my Dad has made for me. During some of the wintertime, it is basketball season too. My Dad gives up ice fishing and going to camp so he can coach my team.
My Dad does lots of things for me and my family, and here are a couple of them. He cooks supper almost every night (my Dad makes the best food on the grill). He also cares for his family very much. For example, he works very hard to earn money for our family.
My Dad is the best Dad in the whole, entire universe, and no matter what anybody says, my Dad is always going to be my Top Pop!
